Well, as Vegtam correctly pointed out regarding the Warlock: it was meant to allow the Warlock of one of the Necropolis factions to change the target at will: i.e., he can choose to do it early, late, or randomly during the Necropolis Duel. For the Blood Mage: there is no killing, and therefore no resurrection either.
