That's exactly what happened. I managed to break through after 5 attempts; there were 200 Druids with Phoenixes. I simply fought one battle and bought my way out with 4 Hydras. A couple of weeks later, I missed during another breakthrough and used Armageddon, resulting in a final battle with no chance of winning.
