You see, all L-U templates for two players aren't really a playable option; there's too little territory, and luck in the initial distribution plays too big a role. L+U isn't much better in this regard; of the ones I know, only Mini-Nostalgia is somewhat playable, and even then, there are some issues. Therefore, the tournament trend is shifting towards XL+U templates with companions. But even there, the main strategic niches are already occupied; you need a fairly original template to break into the standard list.
