Controversial issues and their resolutions.

Is the guard's patrol route fixed? Can it be bypassed at all, or only on the opponent's side? If a bot bypasses it, can I follow it (by bypassing it as well)?
P.S. Reports mentioned "DD through GO" and "DD to the adjacent tower," which seems to be a private agreement (a change in the rules)?
