Autosaves: Should they be enabled or not?

My friends and I have a tradition. Each of us has an autosave (you know, sometimes you get carried away and make a mistake). For each subsequent save, one unit of level 7 is removed (if there aren't any yet, it's removed immediately upon the first purchase). But sometimes things happen differently. Recently, I was playing as a Knight, stepped away to eat/smoke, and got distracted from the game. I forgot that I had left the hero with 4 Pegasus for speed, and he just went into battle, and even without a spellbook!
