There's another point: on the CM map, the luck factor is very significant, i.e., it's much harder to recover from a worse starting position than on the HL template. On 8MM6, you can run to the companions and win (personally, I've salvaged a lot of hopeless situations), but on the CM map, you're forced to run in circles and lose 95 out of 100 games (like my game with Britva in MvsM).
