Regarding morale:
I counted, there were 2, and the second one only harmed the Dwarves. For example, I often "get lucky" when the top-left unit loses morale in the first round, and another one on the right does too, and then it's all over... in your case, it's risky because there's almost no damage output. And if the Dwarves quickly eliminate the units that are spreading out, you might not even be able to get out. I think that in that situation, 113 could still be taken if things went badly, and there wasn't really anywhere to run, so it was the right decision, the risk was justified.
