If my memory serves me correctly, Alaric should appear only after capturing the last silver city, which is located in the corner on the cape. (It was when capturing this city that my game glitched, and I had to replay everything). During the battle with Alaric, the mages shouldn't interfere anymore. And in general, this is the end of the episode; after capturing the city, everything is simple; you just need to intercept Alaric with the same hero who captured the city.
