Chronicles of Heroes: The End of an Era

I can't even say for sure what exactly started it all. Perhaps it was when Arandor closed down the Pub because he felt there was less of his own banter and more verbal diarrhea, or perhaps it was when Loken fell in love with Upachka and began to treat the forum with greater disdain (anyone who has seen such people can imagine the consequences), or perhaps it was because several users left, which, given the not very large number of members in the section, could not but affect it in a negative way, or something else entirely. I will only say one thing for certain: Hacker, whose posts were marked with later dates and served as a reminder of the bygone days of this forum, unexpectedly returned. And decided to take personal control of everything that was happening. Including the Offtopic section.

First Conflicts

Meanwhile, the section was in complete disarray, chaos, and ruin. Loken considered the forum dead and made no secret of posting messages everywhere in the style of UPCHK. Since, for manyThe hacker did not deny the authenticity of the correspondence and even confirmed it, which instantly brought everyone back to Loken's side, except for Arandor and someone else (I remember everything bad about Arandor best, I won't lie). Even I, a supporter of moderation, stated that Hacker had exceeded his authority and apologized to Loken for previously approving the coordinator's actions. After lengthy outrage and defense of Hacker by almost all of the moderator/coordinator team (TaKo and Lyutik, for example, began to monitor our section precisely after this incident - before that, they only vaguely suspected of its existence), they had to accept Loken's ban. Of our three moderators (Arandor, Kosha, Razer), only the first defended Hacker, as Kosha was preparing for the Unified State Exam, and Razer had long forgotten that he was a moderator here. After Loka's ban and the official closure of this topic (I mean, as a discussion topic), a passive form of protest began - if before that, the section was filled with absolutely meaningless chatter, now this activity increased several times over, and the main instigator of this was none other than Vesker, whom you all know. When Hacker tried to forbid him from chatting aimlessly, Vesker reminded him that the section is called "Chatter." Without hesitation, Hacker renamed the section to "Everything About Everything." Then Vesker stated that such a name leaves the right to chat aimlessly, because chatter is also about something. Against this background, warnings were issued, one-day bans, one-day accounts from Loken (when I said "for the last time," I meant his real account), topics were deleted, messages were deleted, and so on. In Haven (which became a den of conspirators, it was there that discussions took place about all hostile actions against Hacker), I stated that Vesker was behaving inappropriately, just a little more rudely and in foul language. I said that Hacker would soon use Vesker's provocations for something really serious. And I wasn't wrong - Haven was deleted. After a five-minute lull, during which all forum users were actively shocked by what had happened, a topic titled "Dialogues with Moderators" was created in our section, where the question asked was essentially: "WHY?!" Hacker replied that this place had turned into a den of conspirators and therefore had no right to exist. Despite my swearing, I was forgiven, because my post condemned the soul and heart of the conspiracy - Vesker. He received a permanent ban. After some discussion, where many, albeit reluctantly, spoke out in favor of forgiving Vesker, Hacker agreed, but on the condition that Vesker behave humbly and quietly. Apparently, he thought that Vesker wouldn't be able to withstand such a test. Strangely enough, he was wrong - Ves calmly and politely thanked everyone who was in favor of his return and created a new topic for chatter. However, this turned out to be unnecessary - after a few more pages in "Dialogues," Haven was restored. I was very nervous about the events taking place, and in Haven, I was against everyone - against Vesker, for the fact that because of him, Haven was almost deleted, against Arandor, for supporting Hacker and instead of moderating properly (then they could have sent this coordinator-maniac away), he was doing nonsense, and against everyone else, just like that, from an excess of feelings. And if I later reconciled with Vesker, albeit with difficulty, then I became seriously offended by Arandor. In the war-torn section, things were quiet - there were no chatter topics, activity in Haven was low. After some time, I simply stopped visiting the forum, as other matters appeared, and the forum really looked dead. It seemed that nothing could help it anymore.

Something is Starting...

When I returned, I learned that Hacker had been overthrown after all, and Liz and Vis, who arrived during the war as green newcomers and whom I always confused, had become full-fledged users of the section and were already communicating, knowing everyone. Despite these positive moments, it seemed that Chatter, and now things will never be the same. But I was wrong – suddenly, online players started visiting us (I only remember Cash and Hermit), some of them liked it here and stayed. Kosha, Vikhr, and Amko returned, and although the last two are not so active now, they gave the section a boost back then. New life began to emerge on the land devastated by war. And now, as I think, it is no worse here than before the Period of Decline and the Great War with Hacker – just different people. But the essence of the section remains alive. And that's great.
