The opponent really surprised me by their choice of town after the scratch.
Climbed onto the opponent's respawn counting on marks (over 60 on the second - and could have been more!), realized I wouldn't outrun Kyrr and decided to attack -- 20+ pegasi and an advantage in stats wiped the smug look off their face)
