Sacred Haven of Debauchery

Now, the question is - WHO NEEDS THIS? I mean, of course, the wording. In mathematics, everything is clear without words. And why invent such complex terms when they can be written out? After all, when they were invented, forums didn't exist yet.

They invented it so that it could be named. Anything is better than if a teacher in school explained it like this: the value of this notation is the number that represents the exponent to which you need to raise the number written as a subscript to get another number. :)
