I had it in 8th grade too. I stayed home for two weeks, covered in red spots >< it was awful.
I was in the hospital as a child, I think with the flu, and a couple of years ago I ended up there again because of a very unpleasant problem (but luckily it wasn't too serious and I didn't need surgery). I spent the time usefully: I read three volumes of "War and Peace").
