Well, if we're talking about methods and generally trying to predict the outcome, we need more specific conditions – but I wouldn't definitively say that the 3rd or 4th month is not beneficial for the Necropolis, even against the Haven.
The size of the map, its density, the number of castles on the map, etc., all of this will play a role, either for better or for worse – but most often in favor of the undead.

People train Paladins at the expense of their own troops; I personally saw how about 60 Paladins were defeated on the 4th week by Forest Elves with full growth rates on both sides.
Yes, with the first strike and counterattack, the Paladins wiped out all the fairies and dancers – but then they were torn to shreds. The heroes were roughly equally leveled, 28 against 29, the stats were also almost the same, and both were in Light.
