| Gorky, M. The Old Woman Izergil |
| Larra is the son of a woman and an eagle. He grew up apart from people, proud and accustomed to considering himself superior. He comes into sharp conflict with the tribe from which his mother came. L. kills a girl who rejected him. For this, the people banish him from their midst and pray to the heavens for punishment for the proud man. Heaven heard the prayers. L. is punished with loneliness and immortality. He has tried many times to take his own life, but all in vain. Now he has become a wandering shadow, a reminder of the sin of pride. |
