I actually wake up twice. One alarm clock kind of warns me, but doesn't fully wake me up; it just gives me a chance to doze off for another 10 minutes! And then I actually get up. Sometimes I stay in bed for a short time to think about an interesting dream or a solution to a problem that suddenly pops into my head (it even happens like that, just like with Mendeleev).
Bow down and hear our cry,
Our earthly rulers falter,
Our people drift and die,
The walls of gold entomb us,
The swords of scorn divide,
Take not thy thunder from us,
Take away our pride.
G.K. Chesterton: English Hymnal
