A drug addict who betrayed his friends, lives in a basement, and has abscesses all over his body can be called despicable and generally quite pathetic. Right? And what if you find someone even more miserable, completely strung out, incontinent, and a criminal in the recent past – will the first one suddenly stop being pathetic?
If you point to a world-renowned doctor and say that he is successful and has achieved a lot, and then point out the owner of a large corporation with billions in turnover, will the doctor become less successful?
