I, for example, would never betray a friend. You can only betray a friend, a close relative, or someone you care about.
But I can't betray my homeland; it's not possible because I don't feel as close to it as I do to a friend.

Your homeland is like your mother. Just like Stalin was also a father (or godfather:D) before... That's it! Don't betray your motherland!

You've been offered a choice between a BMW X5 and a Lada 2101.
If you choose the BMW, you're a traitor or a defector.

And I don't like transportation at all! And besides, the Lada... it's a cool, patriotic thing!:D
And besides, we're not choosing a product; we're choosing between friends, relatives... against temptations...
