I left my native home
I left my blue Russia behind
Three stars shine above the birch tree by the pond
Bringing comfort to my old mother's heart
The moon, like a golden frog,
Spreads across the blue water.
Like apple blossoms, gray hair
Has spread in my father's beard.
I won't be back soon, not soon,
I'll wander and sing for a long time.
An old maple tree on one leg
Guards my blue Russia.
And I know there is joy in it,
For those who kiss the leaves in the rain,
Because that old maple tree
Looks like me with its head.
