Which faction poses the greatest challenge for the Dwarves?

Personally, I think that ghosts are one of the most dangerous opponents, and therefore I try to eliminate them as one of the first. Whether you win by casting spells depends on who casts first; in that case, you can take Sharp Mind (although you have to wait a long time for Logistics to appear). For example, with Helmar, you can focus on Stone Skin + Punishing Strike, and with Rune of Energy, you can reach the enemy quickly... And Divine Retribution can also appear... Eternal Light weakens the power of darkness by 50%. What skill from the Darkness faction can be used to counter this? And if you play as Inga and take the Attacking Harpy skill + Artful Leadership with Harmony and Inspiration, the game becomes easier. It works well against Necromancers!

And here's something else I remembered: with Dwarves, you first develop defense and then magic, while with Necromancers, you first develop quantity and then defense. So, if you give both a focus on education, the Dwarf's army will be stronger + runes, and the Necromancer will have less quantity. This has been tested, especially with Helmar; he will always be stronger in light than in darkness. IMHO! I remember one battle: 12 Dwarf dragons easily defeat 40 Vestals and 26 Bone Dragons under Luck and Berserk, and the Battle Defense will be high. So, if you're playing against Helmar, it's harder to win with Deads; you should only take Battle Defense as an attack skill from defense.
