He's not irritable, he just doesn't like it when people talk badly about him, and he really likes it when they talk well about him, and it's all because of a childhood trauma, hence the dreams in which he tries to seduce a bus driver. The reason for this lies even deeper in his childhood, perhaps when he was 4 years old, a mean bus driver yelled at him, or maybe even a trolleybus driver.
