Fantasy vs. Science Fiction

Yeah, it's hard to come up with "something better" in fantasy in general, because to be considered fantasy, it has to be banal and cliché. It's such a primitive genre, what can you do?

If, for some, fantasy must be banal and cliché to be considered fantasy, and it's mandatory, then that's a problem specific to that individual. An unwillingness/inability to perceive anything outside of their own framework.
That's just how it is, what can you do?
