"The Art of Strategy," a section for reports.

I confirm Kill's report. Anticipating all sorts of anti-magic, I took Zoltan, but it turned out to be useless. From Darkness, I only had Subjugation. I maxed out everything needed against the elf, except for Keen Mind (they stubbornly wouldn't let me), but there was no Berserk, no Word of Power, no Storm, no Mass Dispel (I also couldn't find it), no Summon with Mines and Crystal (it wasn't needed). At first, the elves hit weakly, then luck started to turn - in general, nothing worked, one block of anti-magic, and the elf would be doomed; everything was ruined because of the whim of the game's pseudo-probability.
I was level 26, with 3 Summon, 3 Darkness, 3 Education, 3 Defense, and 3 Logistics.
