You need to think through every move and not lose morale if the girls suddenly get a morale or ability boost ;)

I wasn't suggesting playing without thinking or losing morale; I was just saying that the option of hitting the group stack with two flies in the first round seems more reliable to me, if only because the vivs not only won't be petrified, but also won't take damage in the first round.
Besides, the option has been tested in the average conditions you suggested: "A small arena or 5th level Wistan, 20-25 lizards".
Wistan with experience-based shooting and +25 armor is the best option from the proposed range;)
