In my opinion, the main argument is the chess clock. There are players who take too long because the time doesn't run during battles with neutrals in the Conflux. And, knowing that level 2 troops are built, it's very convenient if you don't have to play defensively behind a Rampart. I enjoy playing without native secondary units, but this is impossible in the Conflux for now.
The chess clock is a counter-argument: it leads to a loss of the ballistics skill. And with such a powerful weapon, a garrison or a Torosar, for example, could perform wonders. Sometimes, this property can really save the game. But with a chess clock, it's like a castration :)
