The game had already grown bedsores of mold and cobwebs; I honestly don't know how I managed to actually finish it. I trudged across the wilderness to an Inferno respawn, found nothing useful there, realized I was wasting time, and bolted to the treasure zone. That's all I remember from the last save.
Anyway, we play. It immediately caught my eye that I was in the treasure zone with expert earth magic but no spellbook, and it was already day 133. With nothing else to do, I rushed home, bought a book, and went back to the treasure zone. I don't think I found anything useful there except a helmet +12/-3 and a couple of Pandora's boxes for experience. From the treasure zone, I headed to the underground respawn of the General secondary. There, from the overview, I saw an entrance to another treasure zone. I jumped in, eating the maximum amount of one-time bonuses on the way. Right then, Vistan broke through ГО. I'm hauling the growth out of the Castle. The Castle is being captured, and they are rushing to catch up with Valky. Vistan moves well; I decided he'll catch up now. In the treasure zone, I ate a dwarf bonus, an artifact +4 attack, and a necklace +3 all. Vistan is very close; there's no escaping him anymore. The plan is as follows: sell everything possible and use the speed difference to buy off the army; there were a cloak and a ring for speed. I sell everything, totaling 13k and some change, then hit a nearby horde of earth elements for a Pandora's box, which gives full level 5. Then comes the contact; I'm short on gold to buy off 3 units:mad:, even though I had previously dismissed 28 fish, 4 vivs, and spearmen from the army. I have to attack with a Viv explosion; the opponent responds with a meteor on the Marks, killing the entire hundred(((( Now I finally buy them off. Then come the battles of fools for the castles; Vistan tries to keep up with the mobile Valya, but naturally, he fails completely. Eventually, I found a level 2 Dragon Utopia with a red orb. My combat stats are better—now we can actually talk, I decide, and run home. That's where things got interesting: all troops bought and upgraded; just buy more and kick the swamp-dweller out. However, I see a blue stack boosted solely by flies; I have the speed advantage, so I split my griffin stack into equal parts—one group should be able to kill one fly. I attack, first turn Mass Slow, and it cuts through the flies; Vistan retreats:smile05: Now I need to decide whether to fight or equip the red orb, but suddenly I see the timer for the end of my turn: 3... 2... 1... Like a sleepwalker, I sit there realizing I have to do something—I won't have time to fight or buy out, and I won't have time to equip the red orb either, and... the turn ended.:smile35: I sit and wait for all sorts of nastiness from Vistan, hoping that I'll still get the first move, but no way:smile28:
