Opera has one unpleasant feature:
when you download something, it can suddenly "override" the file extension to its own; and a song becomes a page, for example. It's most annoying when this happens when downloading an archive.
Hmm, I've never noticed that. However, if I understand correctly what you're talking about, it's not Opera's fault at all. Some files are simply uploaded incorrectly, meaning there's a problem on the server side, and the problem will occur in any browser. Just use the download launch option - right-click on the link and select "save object as" - then it will almost always process the file correctly
