Apparently, as in the third game, a hero of the title race will always be available for hire. That's how I understood it.

You have no idea how:) It was like that in one of the early videos. With a small number of stacks in both armies, peasants reached the archers in two turns. But they didn't show the maximum size of the same-race units anywhere.
IMHO, it's a stupid new feature. Since everyone has ranged units, everyone will accordingly divide their troops into 7 stacks and make the battlefield as large as possible. Especially since flying units move several cells.
P.S. I forgot one more thing. When storming a Castle, the battlefield is always maximum size.
