Which magic schools should I choose for the late game? Or should I go for a specific artifact?

What I don't like about the path to the Castle is the lack of magic... unless you supplement Chaos with artifacts... The result is that you cast all the spells, but it's not as interesting to me. I prefer having artificial summoning or light magic at my disposal.
