Yesterday, with nothing better to do, I decided to try my hand at being a producer... I consulted with Mizrael, with vbn! I don’t have a microphone, but I figured something is better than nothing, maybe it’ll at least be useful for newbies. I spent the whole day and night slogging through these damn videos (if it wasn’t for the beer, I would have given up after a couple of hours, since I’m not good with software), and all I get in response are incomprehensible reproaches.

The quality certainly leaves much to be desired,

I just recorded the video with this program and converted it to mp4 using the default settings (quality factor 4; for comparison, Mizrael did it at factor 20). I have no idea how to redo it; in the source, the first week is 800+ MB, the second week is 1.2+ GB.

still snipes at me. I didn’t make a VOD for veterans like you; I made a video for newbies so they could get an idea of the game (when I started playing online, I would have given a lot to have a VOD like this fall into my hands).
First, I generated one map, but I messed up in it (even though I was already ready to upload it). I decided to regenerate the map and played on what it gave me. The game was played in one sitting, week by week, without any reloads. Whoever doesn’t believe it can just pass by (I wanted to put it differently, but I held back)!

An hour and a half of video and not a single serious battle up until breaking through the GO.

Did you want me to personally generate a setup for taking the Dragon Utopia in week 1 or something? If you need it, generate and slog through it yourself, then upload a video, and we, as you put it, will have a laugh!

The only question is - was breaking through the birds (without even knowing what’s down there) just showing off or a gameplay necessity?

Breaking through the GO in the second week, when possible, is very important! That doesn’t mean you should then go and kill the opponent in their castle. If you have nothing else to do on the respawn and the treasure zones are far away, then by invading the opponent’s respawn, you slow down their tempo! They are forced either to abandon their castle and go to the treasure zone without the week 3 growth, or to abandon the treasure zone (or other important planned tasks) and defend their castle! I decided to end my VOD with the very fact of breaking through the GO in week 2, showing that under a certain setup, it’s not as hard as it seems. In a real game, there would be no point in breaking through a second GO, because I messed up the chains, but I decided to do it out of principle and call it done! Or would you have found it more interesting if I had beaten the computer?!

and snipe for no reason. Mizrael tried so hard, and he gets criticized. I myself disagreed with some of his play, but after all, he had a REAL ONLINE GAME, AND A TOURNAMENT ONE AT THAT! How the hell can you stay focused when you’re thinking about how to record properly, and also commenting on your own actions at the same time?!
Sorry for being rude, but I couldn’t take it anymore! Make your own VODs and watch them yourselves!
