You know, I don't like how Kyle is so diligently trying to fit the evidence to different people and how quickly, I would even say suddenly, he changes the direction of his efforts.
As for the hook, it could just as easily be a stiletto, an imaginary rapier, or, damn it, a hook. Only the hook has a curved shape and, logically, should not so much make neat holes as tear flesh when extracted. Although, according to the game's plot, it was not used at all to kill monsters, but only to transport various trophies (the head of a chimera or something).
