I got a lot of money. There were no hidden resources, and there was no one to level up on (and they didn't offer anything worthwhile – I ended up sticking with the experience tactic, offense, and advanced wisdom). When I headed to take the consulate, Pandora, and the bone stash near the passage to my opponent, my opponent appeared there before me and ate everything, along with my chances of success.

I'm losing for the second game in a row with Shakti, even with mass haste, and my opponent is using this tactic :(
