We agreed to play Heroes of Might and Magic III online! (January 2006 - August 2010)
Usually, a strong hero doesn't go alone. There should be at least one other hero nearby to support him – to pick up slow units at the end of each turn. You'll give all the troops to this supporting hero, and they'll move in a chain from hero to hero to reach your intended destination. The main hero, who you leave with only one unit, will attack someone and then retreat, after which he'll return to the castle. This is called "breaking into the castle."
