As I understand it, you defeated the dragon – I don't remember the color – near this castle. There are dragons there; kill them, and you'll get the second half of the key. You need to repair the key in the forge at the top left of the map, and then you can go through the portal! You need to buy 10 ore and 50 zombies from the "witch."
