Grindan isn't making me happy today :)
He slowly lost his entire army. Either because he didn't have enough money to hire a strong fairy to protect 5 stacks, and someone ate them, or he had to finish off the dendroids with archers by kicking them. Try kicking a piece of wood - it's not easy :)
With 10 coins left, he built horses in the Stronghold; found three nagabanks and a horse lair, but felt it wouldn't help. He decided not to drag it out.
