I, for one, don't believe in predicting the future at all, because I tend to think that it mainly depends on people themselves and a series of random factors. And it would be even harder to make me believe the opposite than to convince me that you can move objects around the apartment with a wave of your hand. After all, an object won't start flying by chance (most likely), while any prophecies can be attributed to guesswork (the end of the world is predicted every year, and not just once, so it's not surprising that someone will eventually succeed), thorough analysis, and so on.
