In seasonal games, you cannot upgrade units either in the main castle or in the secondary one.

Why can't vampires be upgraded? And phoenixes too. Someone captured an already built Castle and upgraded angels there, while another player had a Conflux and was left out.

But the seasonal rules allow upgrading angels. Why this is so, you need to ask the most charming Lady Ash - the author of these rules.
