If having extra Elves is appealing, then why waste 3 units with archers? Upgrading Centaurs could be a viable option in this situation. And I don't understand why Gargoyles and Harpies are considered better than Undead. Mummies don't have morale, and a single Centaur can reliably hold back 2-3 stacks on the back line.
