It's a great addition if it complements something else... But as a standalone unit, it's... I won't say it's bad, but it's definitely the weakest of them all.

Even if it counters death magic, the holy word doesn't stand a chance against the Hand of Death... ;)

You should compare it not with the holy word, but with the death ward..., when everyone receives 50% less damage...
Life magic isn't an attacking spell...
And if you're comparing it to the Hand of Death, you need to compare it to the Guardian Angel or the Hand of God ;)
