- What are the drawbacks of Heroes 3? (What didn't you like about it?)
I might offend many, but the degradation of this great series began starting with the third one. And the higher the Heroes number above three, the worse they became. The main shortcomings of the third compared to the second are the lack of a certain "spark" (scenarios and tactics are more primitive), an unfortunate averaging of everything (castles are unbalanced), the elimination of the principle of hero development and the existence of super-armies (you can spend 2 weeks leveling a hero, or you can just equip some random novice; black dragons were turned into chickens), the presence of heaps of useless and free objects on the maps, 90% of heroes can only be used for collecting trash on the map, and so on.
IMHO there is no need to offend anyone; for example, out of the Heroes games I actually only like the 3rd one, specifically SoD. I don't intend to argue with anyone particularly on this topic; if someone likes other parts, I respect their choice, although sometimes statements like "how can you play 2D strategies when there are already 3D ones" are obviously funny. In my opinion, it is a matter of taste and nothing more. Regarding the topic, I'll repeat: I don't like the 3rd one, and even sometimes the unsystematic way things like morale, luck, and resist trigger irritates me; I see no other shortcomings. IMHO =\
