I understand, but I was hoping to get a super ability, and if I take "light" at level 29, I probably won't get it?

In the original campaign, playing as the Demons, I took "education" for Agrael before getting the super ability, but it didn't prevent me from getting it on the next level. So, I guess they will give it to you.
