Hmm... Well, I'm not sure, considering globalization, it seems to me that, on the contrary, everything is becoming more unified. Take the European Union, for example. It's not just a simple union; it also combines features of a state (I won't explain, those who are interested can read about it on Wikipedia). In my opinion, it is quite possible that countries will unite in the future (perhaps even within our lifetime). The countries of Latin America are also mostly friendly towards each other, and the USA and Canada adhere to a common policy. In general, I tend to believe that the number of states will скорее decrease rather than increase, and more likely through peaceful methods than through military ones.
