I read the definition when I was writing my previous post. However, that article mentions the most general characteristics of producing, but there is also a vast genre (in terms of the number of performers) like pop music. In pop music, the producer is truly king and god; the performer doesn't do anything at all. One person writes the music for them (chosen by the producer), another writes the lyrics (also chosen by the producer), and the producer is responsible for the image, sound, and other similar aspects. But what separates rock bands from pop music is, among other things, creative independence; that is, they compose the music and lyrics themselves. In my opinion, the most a producer can do is offer advice, like "this way will be better than that," but completely controlling a rock band... I don't know about that. Besides, pop artists seem to be "under the wing" of the producer who made them famous and are completely dependent on them, while rock bands achieve popularity on their own and have the right to choose their own producer, especially when they become well-known. Would they choose someone who has different views on their sound?

Rick works differently than other producers. It's really hard to describe in words. He wants you to do what you want, he wants your vision of your own song to come through your own playing, and to compose it. I make about half a dozen song sketches, and then he comes, and we listen to them. After that, he starts making suggestions. It's amazing because you get everything you want from the song, and then you can use it afterward.

Someone from Slipknot said that; it's taken from Wikipedia. So, it turns out that the producer still makes suggestions? That's what I meant.

For example? Maybe it's just that nu-metal elements have appeared; why did they start to sound like Linkin Park? I haven't noticed any similarities...
