“Day of Judgment” begins as a typical pseudo-chronicle depicting the life of an ordinary, deadly virus: Britain is once again gripped by an epidemic of some inhumanly mutated scarlet fever, as a result of which the authorities of the country found nothing better to do than declare Scotland a quarantine zone, closing it off from the rest of the island with an impenetrable fence, automatic machine guns, army patrols, and other, rather unfriendly stuff. The land of strong whiskey and proud Highlanders in kilts becomes a reservation.
