The "Record-53" radio receiver is an upgrade of the previous mass-produced "Record-52" model. It differs from its predecessor primarily in its new, modified exterior. Minor changes were made only to the low-frequency part of the electrical circuit and the replacement of the speaker from 1GD-1 to 0.5GD-2, and later to 1GD-5. In terms of its electrical and electroacoustic parameters, the "Record-53" meets the GOST standards for mains-powered radio receivers of the third class. The "Record-53" is a mains-powered, five-tube superheterodyne assembled using metal-series tubes. A 6A7 tube is used in the frequency converter. A 6K3 tube is used in the IF amplifier stage. The detection of incoming signals, AGC, and preliminary low-frequency amplification are performed by a 6G2 tube. A 6P6S tube is used in the final stage of the low-frequency amplifier. A 6Ts5S tube is used as a rectifier. Electric bulbs with a voltage of 6.3 V and a current of 0.28 A each are used to illuminate the receiver's scale. The radio receiver has a wooden cabinet that is assembled at the factory from individual parts. The front panel of the receiver has three control knobs: the left knob is the power switch and volume control, the center knob is for tuning, and the right knob is for switching ranges and activating the "phonograph" mode. The radio receiver is designed to be powered from a 110, 127, or 220 V AC mains.
