The Veil Nebula is a diffuse nebula in the constellation Cygnus, a vast and relatively faint supernova remnant. The star exploded approximately 5,000–8,000 years ago, and during that time, the nebula has covered an area of 3 degrees in the sky. Its distance is estimated at 1,400 light-years. This nebula was discovered on September 5, 1784, by William Herschel.
