It's very convenient for those who don't eat while it's not their turn, don't do the dishes, don't think about their next move, don't browse the internet, don't watch TV, and so on... but instead, sadly stare at the ceiling and try to swat a fly with a spitball.
I tried GameRanger. I didn't notice any differences from Hamachi (except for the menus, rooms, contact list, etc., of course ;)).
