Is metal dead?

Right now, everything that could be mixed with something else has been mixed, and there's nowhere else to go. In my opinion, no new directions are emerging; nu-metal was the last decent genre, and even it seems to have faded away by now. And bands that are just clones of what already exists are unlikely to become very popular.
