Yes, you need to play to learn, not just read about it. You can't learn how to play just by reading advice. For example, I thought I knew the order in which neutral creatures attack. That is, if there are several enemy units with the same speed, the ones higher in the list should attack first. But it turns out that in the game, if the units at the top are engaged, and the ones at the bottom are not, the order changes. I ended up sacrificing 2 Berserkers in this way.
I don't know, I personally prefer to avoid using Berserkers on this map. They require a lot of investment, and there's no guarantee they'll work as intended (resistance, unit placement, enemy water magic can all minimize the damage from a Berserker, not to mention the "Blink" spell). It's easier to take something more useful, like a Marksman + Archery (for some castle combinations, such as Tower + Conflux, combined with defense and Magic Weapon, it's a deadly combination), etc. IMHO.
