Let's say you got Titans and Rampart, while your opponent has Swamp and Castle. What are your thoughts? What will guide you when choosing skills?
You can probably predict the opponent's army composition with 90% accuracy. But you don't know what they will take.
Titans and Rampart offer many options: Berserk, Logistics, and Melee.
Why Berserk is a possibility:
There are no immune units on their side.
We have dragons (they are not blinded or slowed and are immune to Berserk; Berserk can be cast on their turn).
Why Logistics is a possibility:
Expert Tactics, Water, Ranged, Magic, Titans, Elves, Dryads, Nagas, Golems, Dragons. We cast 15,000, which is enough for almost everything, except for a full stack of Golems. We don't take a Tent and barricade ourselves in that corner. They can't break through, which is a plus. It's dangerous if they have Berserk or Expert Tactics, but that's unlikely.
Melee: 7, 6, 5 Rampart + Titans, Nagas, Golems, and a few Djinns or Mages.
With the 15,000 cast (15,000 is cast in 90% of games).
What can we expect from their side? First, they probably don't have enough money for even one stack, even with the 15,000 cast, which is a plus for us. Logistics is unlikely there, and Berserk is also unlikely (the danger is slow and blind; if Archons are slowed, you won't be able to cast Berserk effectively). So, they will likely have Melee + some Magic, or even two. Perhaps they will sell for 30,000; I would do that and take Armor, Magic + 2 speed. With a full purchase of Castle and Swamp, that's the best. This is an example of how I analyze the situation while playing.
