A small detail – the main striking force wasn't vampires and skeletons, but archangels with necromancers (you shouldn't give Necropolis castles with them; these are perhaps the only decent units for Necropolis, otherwise you get an overly powerful stack) and crusaders, so essentially, I haven't changed my beliefs. And luck also plays a big role, sometimes the bone dragons age, sometimes they don't.
